Welcome
Hi, I’m Janine, the indexer behind Evergreen Indexing. I hold a Master in Library and Information Science and have over a decade of experience working in public and academic libraries where I have learned a lot about information seeking behavior. Now, as a professional indexer, I can apply what I have learned helping library patrons find information to how I approach writing indexes. My goal is to create user-friendly, quality indexes that serve as a navigational tool for readers.
After completing the indexer training course through UC Berkeley Extension, I began creating back-of-the-book indexes for books of all kinds, though I mostly focus on trade and scholarly publications. My areas of specialty include the humanities, social sciences, health and wellness, and personal well-being. As a DIY enthusiast, I also enjoy books that teach practical, hands-on skills for tasks in and around the home.
When I’m not crafting indexes, I can be found outside enjoying fresh air and bird sounds in the beautiful Pacific Northwest, working on various house projects, or sitting in my reading nook with a good book and my cat sidekick, Shack.
"Janine completed her work for me in a very timely fashion, helped me greatly by pointing out errors that I and my editors had missed, and produced a well-planned and useful index for my book. I highly recommend her."
